Well, the year is disappearing pretty quickly. The days have been getting shorter and colder and over the past few months we’ve been busy improving and growing our network.

Like all businesses in New Zealand, we are incurring increasing costs. Rather than having to increase our pricing at this time, we are re-visiting savings we can make in other ways. One of the areas we have identified savings is in our Helpdesk hours and the times we receive and make calls. Looking at our call logs for the past few months, the impact of these times changing will be very minimal. From Monday the 7^th of August our helpdesk hours will be changing to:

Monday-Friday: 8am-8pm
Saturday-Sunday and Public Holidays: 9am-6pm

Our front desk reception hours will remain the same, opening 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday. Closed weekends and public holidays. Don’t worry, it’s still our friendly, helpful, local team but with a better work life balance.

We also have our online chat available via our website, if you’d rather communicate with us that way. Just click on the little chat bubble and start typing.

We’re pleased to announce that we are making changes to our most popular wireless broadband plans. Our 1500Gb $140 per month, will become flat rate, fair use automatically. Anyone on the 3000Gb plan at $200 per month will also automatically move down to this new flat rate plan. We realise customers need extra data and we are now in a position with our network upgrades to offer this.

Great news! We have moved all customers on our previous 1500GB and 3000GB plans over to our new flat-rate plan already!

If you were on our 3000Gb plan, starting from your next billing cycle, you will be billed at the new lower rate. Please take a moment to review your payment methods, especially if you use automatic payments. This ensures a smooth transition and uninterrupted service.
 
We have also managed to secure some licensed radio spectrum across the Horizons Council footprint, and will be deploying some newer / additional radios at our highly loaded sites. Equipment is due in the country around August, and is being installed in Spring as weather allows. Once we have installed this equipment, we will be looking to offer a higher speed plan at an additional $15/month on your usual plan. We need to complete testing, but at this stage we are expecting this “Speed Boost” plan to be around 50/10Mbit.
 
We’ve recently been installing fibre duct between Awahuri and Rongotea as part of the local council sewer upgrade project. Over the next few months you’ll see our Inspire Infrastructure team working on customer installs on Green Road / Rongotea Road, as well as a few small spurs of fibre up Cole Road, Mill Road and Kopane Road. Know someone in this area that would like fibre? Let them know to call us if they want to connect. If you are an existing wireless customer along this build path, we should have been in contact already to arrange to upgrade you to fibre, so if you haven’t heard from us, give the Helpdesk a call on 0800 484 363.

Helpdesk tips

1. Our friendly helpdesk frequently receives troubleshooting calls that can often be resolved with a simple cable connection fix. By firmly pushing in your cables until you hear that satisfying "click" you can quickly resolve many connectivity issues you may be experiencing. Remember, our dedicated team is always here to assist you and answer any questions you may have - 0800 484 363.

2. Having connection issues? It's always a good idea to power off your router for about a minute. Then power it up again and give it a few minutes. Often something as simple as this will get things going again without any further intervention required.
